About Me
I’m a designer, arm-chair philosopher, and kayaker. But no, I can’t fix your fax machine.
The beauty (and the challenge) of online communications is its ability to quickly change. Online the action taken can happen in fractions of seconds, allowing for limitless possibilities. Making use of this medium wisely is key to how I approach online communications, as it can be a powerful tool for good, or for bad.
With more than ten years of experience in online communications, I’ve seen good and bad approaches to online communications. Yeah, okay, I’ve done some of those good and bad things myself. My experience has been predominantly in higher education – one of those unique industries where one has to be both a little crazy to work in and have a huge dose of enthusiasm and creativity too. I LOVE it. Did I mention I’m a little crazy?
In 2011 I left my role at Keene State College as Director of Marketing and Communications to return to my true passion – building things and getting my hands a little dirty with the raw work of any creative project.
At the same time I’m a proud graduate student at Umass Amherst in the Learning, Media, and Technology program. I entered the program because my various roles have led me to work closely with instructional designers. Much of the time there is a great deal of overlap as well as give-and-take between the two areas. Not only is collaboration with these learning experts always a great experience, they use technology in innovative and creative ways to foster learning. Entering the program at UMass means a little extra driving a couple of days a week, but it’s worth it. Did I mention I’m a little crazy?
